Chris Smith - Website Design Apprentice
Chris joined Virya Technologies in October 2011 as a Website Design Apprentice. Working closely with local learning provider WS Training, Virya Technologies have created a programme of study which allows Chris to achieve an NVQ Level 2 while learning vital on-the-job skills.
Chris has demonstrated an excellent ability to pick up Joomla! very quickly and is developing a keen interest in coding. He is often to be found raiding the vending machine and seems to manage to beat everybody in our monthly pedometer challenge - we think he straps his Nintendo DS to the cat when we're not around!
Ruth Cheesley - Director & Web Design Manager
Ruth founded Virya Technologies back in 2006 under the name of Suffolk Computer Services and has worked hard to drive the business forward along an ethical path. She is a practicing Buddhist within the Triratna Buddhist Community and is in the process of training for ordination.
Ruth has specialised in the Joomla! CMS since 2005/6 and is continuously seeking out exciting new opportunities for developing interesting and varied websites and intranets using this highly versatile system. As a result of her interest in Joomla! her knowledge and passion for Open Source technologies has developed over the years, leading to the company expanding to providing a range of open source services, from IT support through to emergency linux server recovery.
Ruth grew up in Dorset and moved to East Anglia in 2001 to attend University in Colchester. She now lives in Ipswich, Suffolk with her partner John and their two cats. Her interests outside work include Buddhism, Hockey (she plays in goal!), Card making, and Zumba!
