Dana project - Young Indian Futures

Young Indian Futuresruns a number of small-scale charity projects in India, with the aim of giving dignity and independence to young people who are excluded from that ‘booming’ economy.  They come from the marginalised ‘Dalit’ communities, formerly known as ‘Untouchables’, facing a life of brutalising work and minimal education through many generations.

Upgrade Joomla! 1.5.x to 1.7.x to 2.5.x

Joomla 2.5 is the newest version of the Joomla! platform, bringing with it a huge list of bugfixes and new features.
Most components and modules have now been updated to work this release, as have the templates. So why wait?

Joomla 1.5 comes to the end of it's supported life in April, so if you haven't upgraded to 1.7 yet, follow my previous tutorial: Upgrade Joomla! 1.5.x to Joomla 1.7.x

In Joomla 1.7, there is a new way to update. You can either use this way, which is fine, or you can use Admin Tools

How do you know if you're using the most up to date version of Joomla! - for many people who come to us they don't even know what version they are running, let alone whether it's secured against the latest reported vulnerabilities!

Introduction

On 25th May 2011 a new European Union law came into effect relating to the use of cookies on websites, which has taken many by surprise and drawn attention to the data protection and privacy issues surrounding the storage of cookies by web browsers.

The Information Commissioner’s Office has given organisations in the United Kingdom one year in which to be fully compliant with this law, on the condition that they are actively taking steps towards achieving compliance.  This analysis looks at what cookies are, why we need them, the different types of cookies that are used, and what this law actually means.

Joomla! Website Support Contracts

joomlalogoDo you have a Joomla! site but not have the time to keep it up to date?  Would you benefit from having an expert cast their eye over your setup on a regular basis to ensure everything is secure?

How about being safe in the knowledge that your website is being regularly backed up off-site and could be restored within minutes should something bad happen?

If any or all of these apply, why not give us a call and find out what we can offer to meet your needs?  Our support contracts can be paid on a monthly or annual basis (which attracts 2 months free when paid annually in advance), and depending on the level of contract, allow you a number of hours per month which can be used to update your site, add content, tweak extensions, and so forth.  Any work over the monthly allocation is charged at a significantly lower rate than ad-hoc work.

We have a fully integrated project management system which tracks the time spent on each task, alllowing us to produce monthly timesheets for your projects as required.

Our prices start at £120+VAT per month which covers two hours support time, with packages being completely scaleable to meet the needs of any setup, whether you have one website or hundreds.  Don't just take our word for it, check out our testimonials on the portfolio page and see how satisfied our clients are!

If you are a charity or not for profit organisation, please contact us for a quote as we operate on a dana (generosity) basis, which means that our company routinely donates time, energy and resources towards charity projects as a means of giving something back to the world.  Read more about our Corporate Social Responsibility policy here.
