Is your data really safe?

What would happen if someone stole your laptop?  In 95% of the laptops we see, the hard drive could be removed, inserted into another machine, and ALL the data retreieved.  Very few people realise their obligations under the Data Protection Act with regards to securing their laptops against theft by encrypting their hard disk drives to ensure that the data cannot be retrieved if the laptop falls into the wrong hands.  Setting a password is absolutely not enough to ensure that your data is safe.
