News

Lets face it, most of us have one too many mince pies and not enough exercise over the Christmas period, Virya Technologies are encouraging our staff to make 2012 their healthiest yet with their 2012 pedometer challenge.

As you are probably aware by now, we were the subject of a distributed denial of service attack which commenced on the evening of Monday, 12th December 2012, targeted against the IP of our server. This article is hopefully an explanation of exactly what happened, a timeline of events, and what we are doing to prevent it happening again. We also hope it answers some questions you might have about the process we went through to recover the sites.

It's not often that you find our Director rolling out of bed at 6am .. but this morning that is just what happened! We were invited to attend the Healthy Ambitions Suffolk Awards Ceremony at Trinity Park Conference Centre, to receive our Small Business Award.

Virya Technologies are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Suffolk Carbon Charter at Bronze level - demonstrating the commitment to reducing our impact on the environment, and introduce different ways of working which will reduce our carbon footprint.

Know your Facebook from your Google+?  Not sure how to link on LinkedIn?  Virya Technologies are proud to launch their Social Media Pack due to popular demand from existing clients.

We mentioned this evening in our blog post that Google had announced they were opening up Google+ Pages for Business - well, when they say opening up, what they really mean is 'we are going to let you see what they are but you can't try it out yet!' - which is a long-awaited development and could potentially be a rival to Facebook pages.

How do you know if you're using the most up to date version of Joomla! - for many people who come to us they don't even know what version they are running, let alone whether it's secured against the latest reported vulnerabilities!

Virya Technologies will be spending the next week participating in the International Urban Retreat, organised by thebuddhistcentre.com.

Virya Technologies are in the process of becoming an approved Google Apps partner, and during this process we have a special offer for businesses wishing to make the move to the cloud.

Virya Technologies recently launched a side-project to their regular functions of providing website design and IT Support, to provide a means of distributing the range of open source software developed by the organisation.

After interviewing a strong field of candidates for the role of Website Design Apprentice, Virya Technologies are delighted to announce that Chris Smith will be starting work full time at our Ipswich offices in early October.

Virya Technologies are keen to support any events involving the Joomla! community and are proud to be speaking at Joomla!Day UK 2011 this weekend, leading a session on Joomla! security for administrators.
